Obituary: DEETSCREEK - William J. “Bill”, 66 of Ebensburg, passed away suddenly and peacefully while bicycling on the Ghost Town Trail, Cambria Twp. on May 16, 2010. Born September 17, 1943 in Johnstown, son of the late Elmer and Josephine (Batovich) Deetscreek. Preceded in death by daughter Justine M. Bailey and sister Joanne Brown. Survived by loving wife, the former Nancy McMasters, to whom he was married 48 years and children: Donna and Donald Bloom, Hooversville; John and Tracey O’Dell Deetscreek, New Germany; Eric and Erica Straub Deetscreek, Curwensville grandchildren: Jordyn, Shaylee, Tanner, Lauren, Casey, Kenny, Tony, Jessie, Brian and Sheena Vorhauer, and Adam and Amanda Faight; and great-grandchildren: Justen, Quinten, and Leighla. Also survived by son-in-law Ken and daughter-in-law Joyce Bailey, Portage and special cousin Bud Deetscreek, Mundys Corner. A retired steelworker from the former Bethlehem Steel Corp, he most recently had been employed as a security guard for AC Power Company. A Member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, bicycling, and talking to everyone. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Rev. Nelson Ingelfritz, officiating. Interment at Ogden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
