Obituary: DIVELEY – Edward L. “Bud” Jr., 83, Richland Township, died May 24, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 19, 1927, in Meyersdale, son of the late Edward L. “Jack” Diveley Sr. and Marguerite H. Diveley. Also preceded in death by sister, Virginia; and nephew, Barry L. Deist. Survived by devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Mary; and sister, Elizabeth A. (Diveley) Rothgaber, residing at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, Pa. Ed was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Meyersdale. Ed was a veteran of World War II, having served as a medic in the U.S. Navy. He served during the Korean War as a medic stationed in Quantico Marine Base, Quantico, Va. Ed was a dedicated and proud member of the American Legion of Pennsylvania for the past 65 years. Life member of Post 849, Richland Township, where he served all major offices, including finance officer and post commander. He served as Cambria County commander, also District 20 deputy commander for many years. He was oratorical chairman for 31 years, western section oratorical for 12 years, and for more than 20 years, served as district finance officer and judge advocate. He also was director for the Cambria County Fair Association, and served as president for 10 years. Ed was privileged to serve as Pennsylvania American Legion Association sergeant of arms for a number of years. He was proud and honored to serve as historian for the Department of Pennsylvania American Legion. Ed also was a dedicated member of 40/8 LaSocisteoes, where he served as Chef de Garre and all other major offices. Ed had a great passion for the Drum Corps World in his former years. He was a member of two very elite judges’ associations. He wrote and directed the drum line for three corps. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Military rites provided by Veterans Post 112.
