Obituary: SHESTAK – John J. “Geiners,” 78, Vintondale and Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, died July 5, 2010, at Altoona Hospital. Born Jan. 11, 1932, in Blacklick, son of the late Charles and Helen (Hallod) Shestak. Preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Edward, Joseph, Mary Anderson, Charles, William and Helen Plovaich. Survived by wife, Margaret (Silko) Shestak, Vintondale; children, Debra (John) Luko, Belsano; Doreen (Andy) Waters, Johnstown; and John, Vintondale; grandchildren, Adam (Danielle) Luko, and Ross (fiancee, April Woods) Luko, Twin Rocks; Clint Sanderson, Nanty Glo; Luke (Kearstin) Sanderson, Ebensburg; and Teresa and Levi Shestak, Vintondale; and great-grandchildren, Jaydin Sanderson and Ethan Luko. Also survived by sisters, Ann Innamorato, Dorthy Tomasko, New Jersey; and Sophia Kuzminsky, Dilltown. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served as a demolition man in Germany. A coal miner in Vintondale Mine 6 and Bethlem and Oneida mines in Dilltown as a section foreman. He was a true outdoorsman, having loved hunting and fly fishing. He took great pride in creating and tying flies. Active member of Vintondale VFW and Vintondale Firemen’s Club. There will be no viewing or visitation. Private interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, is in charge of arrangements. Come to me all you who are weary. Your soul will find rest.
