Obituary: RUMMEL – Earl “Jake,” 94, Belsano, died July 8, 2010, at home. Born Jan. 3, 1916, in Blacklick Township, son of the late James T. and Elsie (Laney) Rummel. Preceded in death by wife, the former Anna Solecki; son, Charles Hackett; sisters, Grace Kline, Cleo Paul, Velma Frank, Violet Speigel, Twila Davis, Irene Hoffman and Ruth Dillenuth; brothers, Paul William “Bill,” Ward “Buck,” Ray “Bud” and Dean; and daughter-in-law, Emily Rummel. Jake was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by sons, Earl (Louise) and Randy (Kathy), all of Belsano; grandchildren, Michelle, Jeanette, Lisa, Krissie, Shawn, Natalie, Randy, Lisa, Susan, Charlie and Annie; great-grandchildren, Allison, Hannah, Blake, Makenna and Cameron; and daughter-in-law, Rosilyn Mattre Hackett, California. He was affiliated with Faith United Methodist Church, Belsano. Retired owner and operator of Rummel Brothers Lumber Co., along with his father and brothers, Bill, Bud and Dean. Founding member of Blue Goose Sportsmen’s Club and Coal Country Auto Club. Member of American Polish Club, Moose Lodge 207 and American Legion Post 619, all of Nanty Glo; Twin Rocks VFW Post 7605; and Belsano Senior Citizens. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo., where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. John Snyder, officiating. Interment to follow in EUB Cemetery, Belsano. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Conemaugh Hospice.
