Obituary: MULLEN – Ronald James, Sr., 55, a longtime resident of Helping Hands Mission, Lilly, and formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away July 10, 2010 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born March 10, 1955 in Altoona, son of James B. and Lois (Smith) Mullen. Survived by parents of Nanty Glo, son Ronald James, Jr., of Apollo, and brothers and sisters: Beth Mullen of Nanty Glo, Karen (Donald) Bishop; Kenneth (Cindy George) Mullen, all of Vintondale; Janet (William) Sell and Gerald (Connie Igdoy) Mullen, all of Hampton, Virginia, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Ron had resided at the Helping Hands Mission for the last 10 years, where he assisted staff and other residents as he was able. Ron loved to ride his bicycle and play computer and video games. He was a great tinkerer and enjoyed trying to fix any and all types items that he would be given or find. He was proud of his efforts to collect bicycles for the Tots for Tots Program and will be missed by his family and his mission family. At the family’s request there will be no viewing. All are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, the Rev. Martin Cingle, officiating. Committal at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to the International Myeloma Foundation.
