Obituary: SCHIRATO - Daniel Albert, 59, of Nanty Glo, died July 22, 2010 at home, surrounded by his family. Born May 17, 1951 in Colver, son of Mario and Rita (Hoover) Schirato. Preceded in death by his oldest son, Brian; father, Mario; father in law, Edward Strugala; brother in law, Louis Strugala; and infant brothers in law, Ronald and Thomas Strugala. Survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Theresa Strugala who were married May 8, 1971; son, Jason; daughter-in-law Theresa (Spanella); grandaughter, Kelsie Nelson; mother, Rita and six siblings: Rita McDonald; Marlene, married to Terry Matejovich; Ronald and wife Chris; Cindy, married to Stefen Molenik, Robert and wife Brenda, and Lisa Howard. Also survived by his mother in law, Betty (Mackanick) Strugala, and by his sisters in law Karen (Mini), married to John Deskevich; Deb, married to George Noel; and Tina, married to Peter Fenchack and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nanty Glo. Served in the National Guard. Member of the Knights of Columbus, The American Legion, and the Twin Rocks Sportsman's Club. Retired Steel Worker and an employee of Nanty Glo Borough. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass 11am Monday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Dan's family.
