Obituary: SIDES - Robert S., 68, of Ebensburg, passed away July 24, 2010 at home. Born November 11, 1941 in Colver, son of the late William Paul and Ethel B. (Stephens) Sides. Preceded in death by an infant sibling. Survived by wife, the former Janet L. Wega, to whom he was married 46 years and son Jeffrey L., of Ebensburg; brother William (Joy) Sides, Colver; sister, Mary Ann (Tom) Forst, Ebensburg; and nieces and nephews: Billie Jo Sides, West Virginia; Charlene (Michael) Romani, Richland; James (Colleen) Forst, West Virginia; and Tom (Linda) Forst of Nebraska. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Bob retired in 1995 from the Ebensburg Center where he had served as a registered nurse. A lifelong member of the Ebensburg First Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, trustee and lay preacher. Bob also served as Fire Police Lieutenant and Chaplain for the Dauntless Fire Company, Ebensburg. Member of Summit Lodge #312 F & A.M. Ebensburg, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Altoona, and former member of the Jaffa Shrine, Altoona. Bob had recently been accepted into the International Alliance of Chaplain Corps. At Bob’s request, there will be no viewing. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Ebensburg First Baptist Church, Pastor Doug Barclay officiating. Arrangements by the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to the Dauntless Fire Company.
