Obituary: SILVIS – Lewis C. Jr., 62, of Columbus, Georgia, passed on October 9, 2016. Born November 23, 1953 in Indiana, Pa. Preceded in death by mother, Sarah J. Silvis; brother, Donald and son, Michael. Survived by father, Lewis C. Silvis, Sr.; wife, of 33 years, Robyn Silvis; and children, Lewis C. Silvis III; Christopher T. Silvis; Valori D. (Chris) Forebe; and Scott D. (Jessica) Silvis. 11 Grandchildren. Brother of Ruth (Randy) Shoup; Richard (Debby) Silvis; Alice (Jon) Lone; Ellen (Steve) Cerny; and Jenny (Bill) Naler; and many nieces and nephews. Lewis was a devoted family man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Retired US Army veteran and a member of the US Army Marksmanship Unit, headquartered in Ft. Benning, Columbus, Georgia. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, where he designed refrigeration units for large corporations. He was a devoted War Eagles fan, enjoyed golfing and bowling; and was a life member of the NRA. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Pastor Eric Means, officiating. Interment, Pineland Cemetery, Strongstown. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale Veterans Ritual Team.
