Obituary: HEGEDUS – Erma Louise (Sandolfini) “Yenna”, 87, of Vintondale, passed away Dec. 18, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born March 28, 1929 in Graceton, daughter of the late Pasquale and Severina (Baccarini) Sandolfini. Preceded in death by husband, James “Whitey” Hegedus; son, Robert Hegedus; brothers, Tulio, Leno, Bruno, Arnold and Albert; and sisters, Rena and Hilda. Survived by daughter, caretaker and best friend, Anna Marie (Joseph) Verba; sons, Frank (Diane) Hegedus; and James (Deborah) Hegedus. Grandchildren, Cristie (Richard) Saylor; Benjamin (Heidi) Verba; Frank (Brandy) Hegedus, Jr.; James (Amber) Shuman; Leigh Ann (Eric) Shabbick; Ann (fiancé, Stuart Chester) Hegedus; Cody Hegedus; and Samantha Hegedus. Great Grandchildren, Lyndon Saylor; Yanessa Shabbick; Trenton & Toby Hegedus; Jerzie & Brady Verba; and Jaxon Shuman. Also survived by brother, James (Helen) Sandolfini; twin sister, Edith (Eugene ”Ben”) Giazzon; and sister, Mary Dobay. Sister in law, Irene (Willard) Fetzer; brother in law, Thomas (Patricia); sister in law, Olga Hegedus; and many special nieces, nephews, friends, and her “Gumba”, Dot Verba. Erma was a bold and sassy lady who loved her family. She enjoyed camping in Potter County, playing cornhole, doing her puzzle books, and was quite the card shark at 500 rummy and “Punch” your neighbor. She lived a full, happy life and has left us all with many wonderful memories. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, the Rev. Leonard Voytek, officiating. Interment, St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks.
