Obituary: SALKELD – Edgar Todd, 72, of Ebensburg, passed away suddenly December 19, 2016 at home. Born December 15, 1944 in Altoona, son of the late Edgar A. and Lillian A. (Jones) Salkeld. Survived by children: Bryan (Tracy) Salkeld, Ephrata; Kristen Salkeld, Greensboro, NC; Jackie (Rudy) Simmons, Boonsboro, MD.; Leslie (James) Mikles, Fort Smith, AR; grandchildren: Braeden Salkeld and Trevore & Jackson Simmons, and Leslie’s children: Taylor, Ashley, and April. Also survived by companion and special friend Linda Gallagher, Brownstown; mother of his children, Jill (Cooney) Salkeld, Hagerstown, MD, and sisters: Sue Ellen (Fran) Springer, Mentor, OH., Ann (John) Akers, Everett, PA.; and Elaine (Jon) Sertway, Woodbury Heights, NJ. Todd was a graduate of Central Cambria High School, he achieved his under-graduate degree from Indiana University and his masters from Mansfield University. He had been employed over the years as a teacher in the IU-8, had worked at the Cambria County Detention Center, and served as a fire boss for Beth Energy Mine #33. Member of UMWA. He was a lifelong member of the Ebensburg United Church of Christ. An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era, he had been a member of the Ebensburg VFW and American Legion. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., the Rev. Chuck Davis, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery, military rites by local veteran’s organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations in Todd’s memory may be made to the Duantless Fire Company or the Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association
