Obituary: BROWN – Joyce A. (Faish), 77, of Batavia, NY, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away December 31, 2016 at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, New York. Born July 7, 1939 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Sowolla) Faish. Preceded in death by daughter Deborah A. Maniace. Survived by son, Robert W. Brown, of Batavia; daughter Janet L. (Timothy Cook), East Bethany, NY; grandchildren: Cory, Matthew, Justina, Jennifer, LeeAnna, Maria, & Cody; and 7 great-grandchildren. Also survived by uncles, Stephen Sowolla, Revloc, and Harry (Shirley) Sowolla, Bethesda, Maryland, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A lifelong member of the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Church in Nanty Glo, where she had sung in the choir. She enjoyed singing, having held membership in the Sweet Adelines and Crossroads of Harmony groups in the Batavia area. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10th, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., the Rev. Fr. George Hnatko, officiating. Interment at Holy Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the Crossroads House in Batavia or locally to her church, Holy Ascension Ukrainian Church in Nanty Glo.
