Obituary: POLCHITO - Anthony "Tony" Sr., 81, Ebensburg, died April 23, 2007, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born Nov. 30, 1925, in Cascade, W.Va., son of Jacob and Roseabelle (Serrian) Polchito. Preceded in death by parents; twin sister, Marie Watkins; brother, Jack; and grandson, David Pyer. Survived by wife of 58 years, former Mary Frances Kokoski; and these children: Anthony Jr., and friend, Ginnie Turner, Cresson; Linda Makin, and friend, Joe Guarino, Ebensburg; Richard, and wife, Jayne (Maurer), Ebensburg; and Gary and fiancee, Sandy Elliott, Martinsburg; grandchildren, Scott; Robert; Amy; Nick, married to former Christine Buynack; Curt; Christine Polchito; Mark and Dale Makin; and Erin, Mike and Matt Elliott; and seven great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Catherine Goral of Homer City. Army veteran of World War II, E5 in Battle of the Bulge, Bronze Star recipient. Member of the 78th Infantry Division K Co. 311th. Member of the Italian Heritage Society. Retired from Inland Steel Co. and member of UMWA Local 1269. Former owner of Kosta's Restaurant, Ebensburg. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake services will be held Wednesday evening. Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Salvatore, Tony's godson, celebrant. Committal, Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 1086 Franklin St., Johnstown; Holy Name School Angel Fund; or Dauntless Fire Co., Ebensburg, in Tony's memory.
