HORN - Richard Eugene, 59, of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Cresson, passed away May 15, 2009 at Altoona Regional Health System - Bon Secours Campus. Born December 11, 1949 in Colver, son of the late Alton E. and Olive Mae (Lamer) Horn. Survived by sons, Christopher Horn, Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Richard Horn of Gallitzin. Brother of Allen (Barb) Horn, Ebensburg; Linda (Dale) Bailey, Newville; Debra Morris, Northern Cambria; Alton "Russ" Horn and Jill (Sam) Dixon, all of Cresson; and Jeffrey Horn of Taneytown, Maryland. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Vietnam veteran of the US Army, he was the recipient of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Formerly employed by Laurel Crest Manor and the Barnes & Tucker Mines. In his younger days, Rick enjoyed scuba diving and held a black belt in karate. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, the Rev. Terry Lamer, cousin of the deceased, officiating. Interment at United Brethren Cemetery, Belsano. Military graveside ritual provided by area veterans' organizations.
