Nichols, Robert A., 87, Laurelbrook Road, Crestwood Estates, Ebensburg, died June 7, 2008 at Richland Woods. Born March 16, 1921 in Cambridge, Maryland, son of the late Lee H. and Sarah Matilda (Meekins) Nichols. Preceded in death by wife, the former Barbara J. Funyak, and brother Lee H. Nichols, Jr. Survived by daughters: Martha J., wife of Robert Johnson, Mill Valley, California; and Mary J. Nichols, Ocala, Florida. Also granddaughter Jennifer E. Johnson and nephews Lee Nichols, III. A member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, where he had served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. A World War II Navy veteran, he had served as a communication officer. A member of Post 363 American Legion, Ebensburg. Retired from E. I. DuPont De Nemours & Co, of Wilmington, Delaware, his career in sales, marketing and management placed him in Philadelphia, Boston, and Switzerland, where he met his late wife Barbara. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc. Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held that evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Holy Name Church.
