BYRNE Arthur E., 91, Laurel Wood Care Center, Westmont, formerly of Blairsville and Ebensburg, died June 13, 2008, in Westmont. Born Oct. 10, 1916, in Ebensburg, son of Harvey and Caroline (Coons) Byrne. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Ethel Kanyan; brothers, Paul and Merle; and sister, Lucille Ronan. Survived by children, Carole, wife of H. Stanley Wills, New Germany; Larry, married to the former Joyce Wirfel, Ebensburg; and Sandi, wife of Jack Ross, Blairsville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Brother of LaVern Umholtz, Altoona; Betty Scanlan, Ebensburg; Mary Farabaugh, Loretto; and Alma Farabaugh, Erie. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Art also is survived by special compassionate friend, Virginia Dishong. A 45-year member of International Operating Engineers. Member of SS. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Blairsville. Art enjoyed flying his airplane and cars. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be said Sunday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Monsignor Arnold L. Gaus. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg.
