SPRINGER - Cecil E., 96, Rebakah Manor, formerly of North Caroline Street, Ebensburg, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2008 at the manor. Born August 15, 1911 in East Carroll Twp., son of the late John and Irene (Eckenrode) Springer. Preceded in death by wife of 61 years, the former Orlena Eckenrode, daughter Jane Kmett-Pisula; son-in-law Edward Kmett, Sr., and brothers & sisters: Earl, Leo, Florence, Marita, Irvin, Gerald, Russell, Aileen, Edgar and Paul. Survived by sons: Kenneth J. Springer. married to the former Jeanne Henchel, Ellicott City, Maryland; and Ronald J. Springer, married to the former Louise Farabaugh, Ebensburg; grandchildren: Amy, Jonathan, Suzanne, Scott, Brian & Kellie; and great-grandchildren, Forest Springer & Sara Miller. Also survived by sister, Mary, wife of Francis Hoover of Patton, and son-in-law Theodore Pisula, Ebensburg. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church where he had served on the Bingo Committee for many years. Longest current member of the Dauntless Fire Company, where he had served as a trustee. Retired in 1998 as autobody manager at Ron Davidson Chevrolet, with over 60 years of service, he had started his career with the former Park Chevrolet. Member of Ebensburg Lodge #681 L.O.O.M. since 1948. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Tuesday, at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held and a Fireman's Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Wednesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cecil's memory may be made to the Dauntless Fire Company or Holy Name School Angel Fund.
