Obituary of Mary E. Zarenko

Zarenko - Mary E., 94 of Caroline Street, Nanty Glo, went to be with the Lord June 9, 2007 at home. Born March 29, 1913 in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth(Vasilko) Krempasky. Preceded in death by husband of 54 years, Anthony G. Zarenko; son James; granddaughter Chasity Janis; brother George Krempasky; and son-in-law Bobby J. Hayes. Survived by children: George and wife Audrey, Strongstown; Jeannine (Dusty) Emery, Nanty Glo; John, and wife Janet, Maryland; Viki, widow of Bobby J. Hayes, Nanty Glo; and Tom, of Ephrata. Loving "Buba" to 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren, and 1 step-great-great grandchild. Also survived by sister, Ann, wife of Francis McDermott, of Maryland. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, where she was a charter member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mary was a great cook and especially known for her homemade nut rolls. She loved to play the organ at Christmas and have her family sing Christmas Carols. Mom will be missed and loved by her family always; she was our life and our rock. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a vigil prayer service will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. David S. Peles, celebrant. Committal at St. Mary's Cemetery.
