Kemler - George S., 73, of Wilmore Road, Ebensburg, passed away March 2, 2007 at Select Specialty Care Hospital, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born July 29, 1933 in South Ebensburg, son of the late Albert L. and Margaret E. (Jones) Kemler. Preceded in death by sister, Lillian O'Hara. Survived by wife, the former Emily R. Stopp, to whom he was married 45 years, and children: Denise Kemler-Bauer; and Donald, married to the former Dawn Mlakar, all of Ebensburg, and granddaughters: Kendra Bauer; Samantha, Emily and Krystin Kemler. Also survived by sisters: Louise (Earl) Adams, Summerhill, and Lois (Francis) Krug, Ebensburg. Owner/Operator of George Kemler Trucking, George had driven tractor/trailer for 41 years, 2 months, and 3 days, and logged over 3 million miles. Member and former Trustee of the Ebensburg United Methodist Church. Member of Post 363 American Legion, Post 4963 VFW, and Summit Lodge #312 F & AM. George was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Ebensburg United Methodist Church, the Rev. Roger Johnson, Rev. Donald Rainey, and Rev. Robert Stopp, nephew of the deceased, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory may be made to the American Red Cross - Johnstown Chapter or the Ebensburg United Methodist Church.
