LAGANA - Eolunda (Bendinelli), died on Aug. 2, 2007. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Lagana (1979) and her parents, Franco Bendinelli (1972) and Vittoria Bendinelli (1968). Also preceded in death by her sisters, Bruna Covolo, Biancia Castelli, Lena Poliziani; and brothers, Quinto, Peter and Gino Bendinelli. Survived by her son, Joseph F. Lagana, and wife, Lynn, Pittsburgh, and daughter, Toni Dertke, and husband, Art, Reston Va. Grandmother of Frances Lagana St. Pierre, and husband, Charles, Massachusetts; James Allison, and wife, Katie, Boise, Idaho; and Jamie Allison Buckner, and husband, Clay, Carrboro, N.C. Sister of Dina Bartoletti, Ebensburg. Mrs. Lagana was a member of the Legion of Mary, promoter of the Association of the Miraculous Medal and Holy Family Catholic Sodality, Colver; and the Holy Family Parish. Her love, devotion and committment to family, community and civic activities will long be remembered. Eolunda Lagana spent a lifetime as a caring wife, mother and grandmother. She gave to her family by cooking countless wonderful innovative meals and to her home by an enviable garden of vegetables and flowers. She dedicated her soul to the Catholic church and taught children to respect God and people of all backgrounds and races. We will miss this spirited, patriotic, young-at-heart woman, but will be surrounded by the many memories we have of her with us. The family will receive friends in the parlour of Marian Manor, 2695 Winchester Dr., Pittsburgh, Pa. (Green Tree) on Monday, Aug. 6, from 9 to 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Marian Manor chapel at 10 a.m. with Father Harry Nichols, celebrant. Friends will also be received in the Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, where a memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery.
