Obituary of Rhoda L. Gillin

GILLIN – Rhoda L., 67, of Johnstown, formerly of Nanty Glo, went to be with the Lord Oct. 29, 2019 at home. Born April 30, 1952 in Belsano, daughter of the late Rev. Alfred B. and Alice (Irwin) Williams. Preceded in death by husband, George E. Gillin, Sr.; sisters, Zoe Irwin and Alethea Bianco; and granddaughter, Olivia Seabolt. Survived by fiancé, Roy A. Rager, Sr.; children, Allen Williams; George Gillin, Jr.; and Amanda Shank. Grandchildren, Tony, Isabella, Ellymae, Justin and Matthew. Great Grandchildren, George; and one on the way! Also survived by sisters, Elsie (David) Rebar and Susanna Long; brother, John Mark (Carol) Williams; special friends, Hazel Rager, Heidi Gaunt and Jason Bopp; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her cuddly fur babies, Bridget, ChiChi and MowMow. A special thank you to Grane Hospice for their compassionate care. Member of Nanty Glo Fire Ladies Auxiliary. Rhoda enjoyed working with plastic canvas. She will always be remembered for her smile and her great personality. Rhoda was affectionately known by her family as, “My Lil Tweety.”  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Pastor Robert Wolf, officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rhoda’s memory may be made to her family.
