STORMER – Ruth Eleanor (Evans) died August 19, 2020 at the age of 88. Formerly of Butler street, Ebensburg, most recently a resident of the Allegheny Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg,  Born August 13, 1932 on the family farm in Colver and was the daughter of the late Stanton and Emma (Toth) Evans. She was also the beloved wife of the late William C. Stormer, dearest mother to Wendy (Martin) Rager, State College, Anne (Peter) Putyrski, Davidsville, Douglas (Beth) Stormer, Hamburg, NY and Eric Stormer, Raleigh,NC; loving sister to the late David “Gomer” (June) Evans, D. Jean (Robert) Aitken, the late Raymond (late Sally) Evans, the late Permilla “Milly” (David) Sloan, Barbara Evans (George Merritts), and the late Susan (Martin) Doherty; cherished grandmother to Sara (Molly) Rager, Kyle (Clare) Rager, P.J.(Erin) Putyrski, Glenna Putyrski, Aaron Putyrski, Natalie (Collin) McArdle, Philip Stormer and Aydan Stormer; loving great-grandmother to Josephine Ruth McArdle and Jonathan “Jack” Rager, and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years, served as Junior Choir Director, and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship. She was a talented vocalist, and sang in the church choir and at many weddings. Ruth also volunteered at the Cambria County Historical Society for many years, served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was an excellent seamstress, and was a great cook known for her nut rolls and cabbage rolls. Ruth worked at the Co-Op store in Ebensburg, was a bookkeeper for several businesses and retired from the Cambria County Domestic Relations Office. Aunt Ruth’s house was the favorite gathering place for many family events, where all of her family cherish the fond memories of times spent there. Ruth loved her family, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At her request, there will be no viewing. A private service will be held at First United Church of Christ, the Rev. Ryan Lucas officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the First United Church of Christ, Ebensburg.
