DIXON – Ross W., 68 of Ebensburg, passed away February 9, 2021 after a courageous battle with Covid -19. Born October 19, 1952 in Spangler, son of the late Ross J. and Virginia (Stephens) Dixon. Preceeded in death sisters Constance M. “Connie” Erickson, and Marlene (Teeter) Krens, and nephews Jared Stiles and Austin Hott. Survived by wife, the former Kathy Pileski, to whom he shared 18 years together; and children: Ross W. II (Nicole) Dixon, Altoona; Jaime (Dustin) Swope, Johnstown; Rachel (Chris) Geddis, Portland, OR and Danielle (Matt) Brazil, Summerhill; six grandchildren: Olivia, Alexander, Tylor, Braydon, Charlie Rae, and August. Also survived by sisters: Peggy (George) Stiles, Terri Boback, step-sister Danielle (Jeff) Seese, all of Ebensburg; step-mother Judie Boring, Seward; aunt, Pat (Ron) Gild, Henderson, NV, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ross was a deputy sheriff for the Cambria County Sheriff’s Office and had previously worked for the former Laurel Bank, Ebensburg as well as serving as a part-time police officer for Ebensburg Borough. Active in his community, Ross had taught Karate lessons and coached baseball and track over the years. He enjoyed working on his home, motorcycles, cars, traveling and especially spending time with Kathy. Throughout his career, he policed as his father did, with “unconditional kindness”. Family and friends may gather at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at Holy Name Church Narthex, Ebensburg followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. Fr. Brian Warchola, officiating.
