Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth "Betty" (Lloyd) Straw

STRAW – Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” (Lloyd), 83, of Ebensburg, passed away May 26, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.  Born May 29, 1937 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Walter E. and Kathleen (Lees) Lloyd.  Preceded in death by sister,  Kathleen Lloyd.  Survived by her loving husband, Kenneth W. Straw, whom she shared almost 68 years of marriage, and children:  William “Bill” Straw, Belsano;  Margaret Denise “Peggy” (Cass) Purcell, California;  Linda (Randy) Blick, Patton; Cathy (Paul) Seymour, Ebensburg; Karen Straw, Johnstown; and Richard “Rick” Straw, of Johnstown, R.D. Betty was a loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.  Also survived by sister,  Nancy Krull, Johnstown.  Betty was a 1975 graduate of Mount Aloysius College, where she attained her Nursing degree.  She retired as a registered nurse from the former Mercy & Good Samaritan Hospitals and Conemaugh Memorial Hospital with 26 years of service.  A longtime member of the First Christian Church in Ebensburg, Betty enjoyed painting in acrylics, “team baking” with her husband, and was an avid reader who enjoyed a good novel.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. SUNDAY at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. TUESDAY, the Rev. Dwayne Kaufman, officiating.  Interment at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Ebensburg First Christian Church, 401 W. High Street, Ebensburg, Pa.  15931.
