Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

MOYER - Marion (Evans) Moyer, 99, a lifelong resident of Ebensburg passed away peacefully on Sunday February 2, 2025 at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg.  She was born January 31, 1926 at the family homestead which was built by her father, H.O. Evans, in the west section of town.  Marion's ancestors were counted among the original founders of Ebensburg.  Last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Edith Evans; her first husband Patrick Callahan, who died in a railroad accident just six weeks after their marriage in 1946;  her second husband,  Lewis W. Moyer, to whom she was married for 32 years until his passing in 1982;  daughter Cynthia L. Moyer, who died in an automobile accident in 1993; and her sister (and brother-in-law) Alice (George) Spiece; brothers (and sisters in law)  Bill (Betty), Bob (Isabel), Cal (June) Walter (Imelda), Art (Donnette)  and Warren (Faynelle) Evans;  and her grandchildren, Jeremy Kirkpatrick and Rob Moyer.  She was also preceded in death by her life-long friend Leanna Owatt.  Marion is survived by her children:  Gary, and wife Suzy Moyer, Dagsboro, DE; Craig and wife Kathy Moyer, Tyrone, Pa.; Bruce Moyer, Elko, NV.; and Susan and husband Paul Kirkpatrick, Ebensburg.  Marion was blessed with nine grandchildren (seven of which survive her) sixteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jessie (widow of Cal) Evans.  Marion was a third generation member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ebensburg, where she served as a deaconess, president of the Christina Woman's Fellowship, and a member of the grief committee and church choir.  A lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Marion cherished each and every member and memory of her family.  She admired the success' and accomplishments of her siblings and grown children.  She was in awe of the promise the next generations offered; and absolutely adored the "little ones" that gathered around her on visits at family events.  She loved them all.   She had worked as a telephone operator and in the housekeeping department of the Cottage Inn.  She will be long remembered for her charitable nature, she would open her home to anyone in need.

Friends will be received from 3:00 pm. until the time of Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6th, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.  Interment at Lloyd Cemetery.  Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion's memory may be made to Garvey Manor, 1037 S.
