Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MILLER - Robert Thomas, 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on March 2, 2025 after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. On July 10, 1954, Bob was born to the late Francis and Thelma Miller. He and his brothers helped to work the family farm in Carrolltown, where his hard-working nature and ability to fall asleep anywhere were nurtured. Bob went on to join New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company where he worked for 46 years. In 1978, Bob met Mary Melnyk on a night out with his brother, Ken. Bob and Mary married in 1980, and they loved each other well for 47 years. Together they raised their two children, Becky (married to Richard Heaton) and Adam (married to Kayla Combs). Bob was the best Pap to his four grandchildren, the lights of his life: Summer, Cadence, Hattie, and Graham.
His laugh will forever be a favorite sound of his family and friends. He was known for his commitment to his family, his kind heart, his gentle nature, his strength and steadfastness, his unassumingly quick sense of humor, and his love for a good slice of pie. Bob was happiest being outside, especially at his house or “down at the farm.” Bob’s circle of family and friends was wide, and his impact on those people was ever apparent in his final days as the house was constantly full of people who loved him. Mary, Becky, and Adam are forever grateful to the people who have shown up in all the big and small ways throughout the past 7 months. The support of their village will continue to carry them through the coming weeks and months.
Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his younger brother and sister, Ken and Kathy Miller, and his in-laws, Leo and Pearl Melnyk. He is survived by his brothers, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Gene and Ginger Miller, Moe and Deb Miller, Rick and Cheryl Miller, Sharon Miller, Alan Miller and Gregory Stachowski, Tina and Mike Illig, and Sue and Rich Higginson plus many nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by special family members, Jessica Mitory and Grayson Mendez.
Bob’s family cannot thank enough the wonderful nurses at Conemaugh Oncology in East Hills and from Windber Hospice. The kindness, care, and support they provided will never be forgotten.
Family and friends will be received at a memorial service 1:30pm Saturday March 8th at Holy Name Church in Ebensburg., Fr. Brian Warchola celebrant. In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Keystone Elk Country Alliance (https://experienceelkcountry.com/donate/) or to the Ebensburg Cambria Public Library, 225 W Highland Avenue, Ebensburg.
