JUDA – Joseph John, Jr., 74, of Altoona, passed away April 11, 2025 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Born July 8, 1950 at Ft. Lee, Virginia, son of the late Joseph John Sr. and Anna (Seeger) Juda. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents Joseph and Mary (Kemper) Juda; uncle, Charles Juda and aunt, Katherine Juda. Survived by brothers and sister: Charles (Seana) Juda, Elmira, New York; Mike (Kathy) Juda and William (Marilyn) Juda, both of Sayre, Pa.; and Mary (Dan) Tokos, of Brooksville, Florida. Also survived by niece, Kim Juda, Elmira, NY., and cousin and family: Dennis & Bonnie Juda, Cape May, NJ; and their daughters: Katie, Stephanie and Becky; and close friends and caregivers Joan Nagy and Larry Hill, Altoona.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he attained the rank of SP-4 and was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 DVC’s, the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the Air Medal. He was also a certified expert in 81mm Morter and a Marksman. A member of the VFW Post 3783 in Ramona CA and a member of Post 363 American Legion, Ebensburg. He had worked for the former Lehigh Valley Railroad and retired from Conrail as a quality assurance inspector. At his request there will be no viewing. A graveside service is scheduled at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
