David Alfred Dahlin
1935-2025
Ebensburg mourns the loss of David Alfred Dahlin, who passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. He was 89.
Born in Ebensburg on November 22, 1935, David was the son of the late Albin and Beatrice (Powell) Dahlin. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a pillar of his community. David was preceded in death by his sister Donnita Springer, brother Abbie Dahlin, and brother-in-law Jack Shields.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Marlyn (Specht) Dahlin; his son Christopher (Juanita) Dahlin of Herndon, VA; his daughter Erin (Pete) Bergin of Bordentown, NJ; and cherished “Pappy” to grandchildren, Jacob, Brooks, and Carys. He is also survived by brother William (Susan) Dahlin and his sisters-in-law Veronica Dahlin and Karen Shields.
A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, he enjoyed a successful career as a pharmaceutical salesman for Johnson & Johnson Co., gathering many accolades for his knowledge and sales acumen. He retired from Johnson & Johnson in 1995. David was a proud US Air Force veteran,
An active and engaged man, he enjoyed the comradery of meeting at the McDonalds Coffee Club in the morning. He dedicated 35 years of service to the Board of Directors of the Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association, holding various leadership roles. David was also a proud 50-year member of the Ebensburg F&AM and the Jaffa Shrine. After a successful career David embraced his passions. He shared his love for the outdoors as a ski instructor at Blue Knob for 20 years, the excitement of hunting and boating and the tranquility of fly-fishing—even tying his own flies and crafting his own rod—and never missed a chance to play a round of golf.
Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24th, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Andrew Jones will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Dave’s beloved Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association (www.ebensburgems.org.)
