KOEGLER – Stephen Michael, 80, formerly of Revloc and Syberton, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center in Altoona.
Born on August 4, 1944, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Herman J. and Madeline (Hughes) Koegler. Stephen is preceded in death by his beloved daughters: Catherine and Theresa, son Brian, and siblings: James, Helen Haley, Betty Krug, Pete, John, Jim, Charles, Virginia “Ginger” Fortney, Rosemary “Midge” Wyland and Mary Jo Hawthorne.
He is survived by his children: Michael (Dawn) Koegler of Hershey, PA; Lisa (Ed) Rederer of Cape Coral, FL; Paul (Karen) Koegler of Florida; and Ann (William) Koss of Revloc, as well as ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy. Also survived by siblings: Pat, Gloria, Madeline, Catherine Joan, and Genevieve.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, Stephen honorably served as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. After his military service, he worked as a self-employed carpenter in the area, earning respect for his craftsmanship and dedication. Stephen had many passions, including spending quality time with his family, hunting, fishing, and supporting the Loretto American Legion, where he was an active member.
Stephen had attended the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, where a Memorial Mass will be held at the convenience of the family. A private family only graveside burial will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Loretto, with graveside military ritual by local veterans’ organizations.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests Masses and Spiritual Bouquets or donations in Stephen’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
