KUHAR - Joseph P., “Jinx”, 94, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veteran's Home and native of Nanty Glo, passed away December 10, 2025 at the Veteran's Home.   Born August 13, 1931 in Nanty Glo, son of the late Charles Paul and Mary (Sholtis) Kuhar. Last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceded in death by his son, Joseph James Kuhar and his brother, David Scott.  Survived by wife, Jane (Brown) Kuhar; and daughter, Linda (David) Russell. Grandchildren, Amberlee, Christopher, Amanda and Matthew. Great Grandchildren, Brice and Caura.  Joe had been a coal miner for 25 years, and then drove for Merlo Trucking in his later years.  He was a life member of the Nanty Glo VFW and American Legion Posts, and had been a member of the Polish Club. Korean War Army veteran, the recipient of the Korean Peace Medal, Korean Service Award, National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.   Joe was also a member of UMWA.  Joe enjoyed his time trout fishing and held a lifelong fishing license.  He especially enjoyed fishing with his buddies from the Veterans Home at Canoe Creek. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., 1310 Shoemaker Street, Nanty Glo, PA, the Rev. Bradley Baldwin, officiating.  Military rites by Blacklick Valley Honor Guard.  Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo.
