HELLER – Doris F. (Evans), 94, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at The Villages at Maple Heights, Ebensburg. Born on March 2, 1931, on the family farm in Cambria Township, she was the daughter of the late James and Estelle (McCarty) Evans. Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn D. Heller; her son, Kurtis J. Heller; her sister, Betty Jean Evans; and her stepmother, Betty E. Evans. She is survived by her cousins, Clyde Evans, Betty Evans, Tom Evans, Shirley Kitchick, and Sandy Linkowski; her devoted nephew and caregiver, Brian Heller; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Doris was a lifelong and faithful member of the Ebensburg First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a congregation deeply rooted in her family’s history, where her great-great-grandfather was a founding member. Her church and her faith were central to her life. Over the years, she served with dedication as deaconess, historian, and treasurer. She took great pride in preserving her family’s legacy within the church community she loved so dearly.
Doris found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and collecting cookbooks. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and genuine warmth. Her quiet strength and unwavering faith touched the lives of many, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., 300 N. Julian Street, Ebensburg, and from 12:00 noon until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Christine officiating. Interment will be at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.
