Gary Averi Obituary

AVERI- Gary, 64, of Mundys Corner, Jackson Twp., passed away March 4, 2026 at home. Born July 14, 1961 in Johnstown, son of the late John and Esther (Davis) Averi. Preceded in death by brother, Greg; and infant sister, Jennifer. Survived by wife, Brenda (Hagens) Averi; twins, Alyson Averi; and Alan (Madeline) Averi. Grandchildren, Eli Averi and Emma Tremmel. Also survived by sister, Terri (Peter Murray) Averi; and several nieces and nephews.


Gary was an outstanding carpenter, and was a member of the Local Carpenters Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to “the land” with his family, riding his Harley, gardening and RV-ing. He was a lover of animals. His most enjoyment was his grandkids, who referred to him as “Poppo.”


Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to The Cambria County Humane Society.
