Roger S. Evans Obituary

EVANS - Roger S., 92, formerly of Ebensburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.  Born July 18, 1933, in Cambria Township, he was the son of the late Samuel Sheldon Evans and M. Grace (Rorabaugh) Evans. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, W. Jean (Trinkley) Evans and son, Daniel Roger Evans, brother Glenn (Jean) Evans and sister Marlyn (Robert) Rose.  Roger is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews.  He was a graduate of Ebensburg-Cambria High School, Class of 1951. Roger was the retired owner and operator of Evans Insurance Agency in Ebensburg, which he proudly operated alongside his wife, Jean. Earlier in his career, he also worked as a diesel mechanic for the C&I Railroad.  Roger was a member of Summit Lodge No. 312 F&AM, Ebensburg and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 33 in Indiana, Pennsylvania. A proud United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member of American Legion Post 363 in Ebensburg.


A lifelong and devoted member of Ebensburg Methodist Church, Roger served faithfully on the church council, sang in the church choir, and dedicated many years as Sunday School superintendent. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at Ebensburg Methodist Church, 100 E. Highland Avenue, Ebensburg, with Pastor Ronald E. Dixon, officiating.  In lieu fo flowers, donations in Roger's memory may be made to the Gideons Foundation or to the charity of your choice.  Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.  Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com
