BRANICK –John, 90, of Nanty Glo, passed away April 9, 2026 at home. Born June 9, 1935 in Clearfield County, son of the late Frank and Evelyn (Semetosky) Branick. Preceded in death by his son, Gary Branick; sister, Anna Mae Vargo; and sons in law, Kevin Washington; and Patrick Duffy. Survived by his wife, Helen to whom he was married on June 30, 1956, for nearly 70 years; daughters, Karen Branick Washington; and Darlene Duffy. Grandchildren, John Michael (Paige) Branick, Michael Duffy, Nicole Duffy, Karen Duffy, Traci (Eric) Hafner, Erin (Ezra) Lubow, Christine Hart and Thomas Washington. Great Grandchildren, Braydon, Mason, Abigale, Arabella, Aidan, Landyn, Alora, Maddox, Asher, Elynora and Octavia. Member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Nanty Glo. US Army Veteran. Lifetime member of Nanty Glo VFW. Retired Crane Operator with Bethlehem Steel for over 40 years. Owner/Operator of the former Branick Auto Sales, Rt. 422, Ebensburg. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, the Rev. Dr. Robert Oravetz, celebrant. Entombment to follow at Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. Military Ritual by Blacklick Valley Honor Guard. Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com.
