Callie L. Lawrence Obituary
LAWRENCE - Callie L., 64, of Nanty Glo, formerly of Bakerton, passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2026. Born May 17, 1961, in Spangler, daughter of the late James and Judy (Lamont) Dibert. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband, Stanley Lawrence, who died in 2013; and brother, Christopher Dibert. Survived by brother, James (Cindy) Dibert of Fairborn, Ohio; nieces, Erika (David) Foust of Xenia, Ohio; and Monica (Derrick) Dyer of Jamestown, Ohio; grandniece, Maelynn; grandnephews, Wesley and River; and stepson, Brian (Jeannie) Lawrence of Windber and their sons Brody and Bailey. Callie was a 1979 graduate of Cambria Heights High School and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Cold War era serving as a Culinary Specialist 1979-1982. She worked many years as a Loan Officer in local banks and credit unions and was an employee in the Recorder of Deeds Office at the Cambria County Court House. Callie was an active member of the Nanty Glo American Legion Post 619, where she proudly served as a Board Officer, Secretary, and Treasurer. Additionally, she was a member of the Nanty Glo VFW, Nanty Glo American-Polish Citizens Club and the Nanty Glo Moose Lodge 207. She loved her family and friends and especially her adorable Labrador Retrievers - Storm Tracker, Schweetie, and Levi. In recent years Callie enjoyed spending time at home and providing in-home care services for people in the local community. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, and she loved cheering on her favorite player, John Elway. Callie will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her, as she was a tender-hearted person. Family and friends will be received Friday, May 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., 1310 Shoemaker Street, Nanty Glo, the Rev. Kevin Queally, T.O.R., officiating. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. Military Honors by Blacklick Valley Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Humane Society of Cambria County or a charitable organization of your choice in Callie's memory.
