Marjorie L. Davis Obituary

DAVIS – Marjorie L., 79, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.  Born February 6, 1947, in Spangler, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Ladene (Bathgate) Davis. She was preceded in death by her brother, James W. Davis, and her brother-in-law, Gary L. Kuncelman.  Marjorie—affectionately known as “Margie”—is survived by her devoted sister, Kathy Kuncelman (fiancé, Dr. Raymond Scanlan), of Ebensburg; her nephew, Brian (Melanie) Davis of Winchester, Virginia, and their children, Aidan and Emilia; her nieces, Lisa (Jeff) Bross of Chardon, Ohio, and their sons, Nicholas and Christian, and Amy (BD) Cutts of Chipley, Florida; as well as her cousin, Judy (Paul) Dombrowski, and their daughters, Eileen and Diana. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Margie dedicated 38 years of faithful service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, beginning her career as a caseworker and retiring as a manager with the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare. Her work reflected her deep compassion, strong sense of responsibility, and commitment to helping others.  A woman of enduring faith, Margie was a lifelong member of Ebensburg First Christian Church, where she served as Board Chairwoman and was an active and guiding presence in the church community. She also gave of her time as Secretary of the Lloyd Cemetery Association Board of Trustees, quietly contributing to the care and preservation of a place meaningful to many.

In her free time, Margie found joy in life’s simple pleasures—shopping trips, good books, and time spent with family. She had a thoughtful spirit, a generous heart, and a steady presence that brought comfort and strength to those around her.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., 300 N. Julian Street, Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Jeffrey Rupp officiating.
