BYRNE – Bernadette A., 83, of Ebensburg, passed away July 5, 2026 at UPMC Altoona. Born February 18, 1943 in Spangler, daughter of the late Cletus and Frances Ruth (Wayne) Kirkpatrick. Preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Byrne; brothers, James, Leo Wayne, Lawrence Jerry, and Fr. Cletus Kirkpatrick; sisters Barbara Fenchak, Mary Fenello, and Ruth Johnson. Survived by children, Cynthia Byrne, Ebensburg, Bobbi (Joshua Poertner) Byrne, Indianapolis, Julie (David) Kovach, Ebensburg, Brian (Victoria) Byrne, Hollidaysburg and Susan (Jody Dumm) Byrne-Dumm, Nicktown., and 10 Grandchildren.  Also survived by her brother John “Jack” Kirkpatrick and sister Kathleen Verchick as well as many numerous nieces and nephews. Bernadette had worked many years as an Xray Tech for Dr. Mastrine’s office. She was a long-time member of Holy Name Catholic Church and spent time volunteering at St Vincent DePaul. Bernadette was well known for her baking which she loved to do.  She loved her family and enjoyed visiting and spending time with all her children and grandchildren, as well as all her time spent with her canine companion “Molly”. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday July 8 at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday July 9 at Holy Name Church, Rev. Brian Warchola, celebrant. Committal St. Benedict’s Cemetery, Carrolltown.  In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Holy Name School Angel Fund, or to Bishop Carroll Catholic Highschool.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com
