HARTEIS - Adena Rebecca, 62, Friend-Lea Road, Ebensburg, passed away January 11, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. Born November 16, 1942 in Imler. Preceded in death by parents Luther and Virginia (Crilly) Claycomb, and brothers Ronald and Gary Claycomb. Survived by husband of 34 years, James L. Harteis, whom she married August 8, 1970. Adena was the proud mother of : Michael, 32, married to the former Heather Shope, Summerhill; Luke, 23; Jonathan, 21; and Lindsey, 20, all at home. And grandchildren Sydney and Blaine Harteis. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Claycomb Smith Danilin, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and mother-in-law Ruth Harteis, of Ebensburg. Adena was a graduate and employee of Chestnut Ridge High School. She also worked for Penelec in Bedford, Altoona, and Ebensburg for 19 years, and helped to manage the family farm for 34 years. Adena was an active member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Adena was a friend to many, and will be remembered for her quiet ways and pleasant and upbeat demeaner. Friends will be received from 2-9 p.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held that evening. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Holy Name Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Adena's memory may be made to the Adena Harteis Memorial Fund, c/o First National Bank, 111 West High Street, Ebensburg, Pa. 15931 or c/o Michael Harteis, 432 Jackson Street, Summerhill, Pa. 15958.
