SILKO - James, 67, Nanty Glo, died Jan. 16, 2005, at home. Born April 8, 1937, in Nanty Glo, son of Thomas and Verna (Casper) Silko. Preceded in death by parents and brother, William. Survived by children, James, Cresson; Thomas, Sacramento, Calif.; Lisa Byich, Nanty Glo; and Karen Novitsky, Johnstown; grandchildren, Cory, Ryan, P.J. and Megan; brothers, Thomas, Nanty Glo, Robert, Nanty Glo; John, Blairsville; and Joseph, Nanty Glo; and sisters, Deloras Grove, Johnstown, and Margaret Shestak, Vintondale. He enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in sports; his granddaughter in her cheering games and was an avid fisherman. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. Retired from the Bethlehem Coal Mines. Member of UMWA Local 1386, Moose Lodge 207, VFW Post 3489, and American Legion Post 619, all of Nanty Glo. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo, the Rev. Father David Peles, celebrant. Interment, St. Mary's cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
