Obituary of Robert C. Engle

ENGLE - Robert C., 93, of Vinco, passed away May 7, 2015 at home. Born Aug. 23, 1921 in Salisbury, PA, son of the late Ray E. and Bertha (Handwerk) Engle. Preceded in death by infant brother, Harold; sisters, Nada Schrock and Marian Gindlesperger. Survived by wife of 70 years, the former Ida Mae Brick; and children, Lois (David) Ling; and David (special friend, JoAnn) Engle. Grandchildren, Melissa (Doug) Fry; Amy (Shawn) Confer, Kim Engle; step granddaughter, Kelli; and great granddaughter, Monica Fry. Also survived by sister, Helen Diest; brother, Ray Engle, Jr.; brother in law, Jim Gindlesperger; as well as several nieces and nephews. Member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner. Retired from Frank M. Sheesley Construction and later had worked for Ace Drilling, South Fork. Bob enjoyed gardening and his neighbors will miss his fresh produce. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Paul s Lutheran Church, Pastor Kevin McNamara, officiating. Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob s memory may be made to St. Paul s Lutheran Church Building Fund.
