Peterman – Ernest L. “Ernie”, 75, of Nanty Glo, passed away July 14, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 19, 1936 in Hooversville, son of the late Ernest V. and Olive T. Peterman. Preceded in death by brothers, Richard J., and Ronald “Fuzz” Peterman, and sister Eileen F. Peterman. Survived by loving wife, Virginia, to whom he was married 47 years; children: Ernie (Joy) Peterman, Duncansville; Chrissy (Scott) Lucas, Cathy (Dave) Swatsworth, and Cheri (Dave) Grimaldi, all of Nanty Glo; grandchildren Taylor, Morgan, Scotty, David, Gavin, Alivia, Garrett, Grant, Gianna, and the newest grandchild due to arrive in November. Also survived by brothers: Raymond (Doris Jean) Peterman, Strongstown, Robert J. Peterman, Nanty Glo, sister Carolyn (John) Packer, Nanty Glo, and sisters-in-law Monica Peterman, Nanty Glo, Victoria Peterman, Johnstown. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Ernie was the owner/operator of the Little Wheel Tavern in Nanty Glo and had worked for 19 years for the US Steel Corporation. A U.S. Army Veteran and member of the Nanty Glo American Legion. Lifetime member of the Polish American Citizens Club, and member of the Knights of Columbus in Nanty Glo. He loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors and loved his Little Wheel softball team whom he coached to the State Championship in 1985. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his special pet “Rosie.” Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes., Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held that evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold Gaus, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Mausoleum. Military Rite by local Veterans Organizations. Donations in Ernie’s memory may be made to The Holy Name Angel Fund or The Cambria County Humane Society. The family would like to express their special thanks to Dr. Donald Ratchford, Conemaugh Hospice, Fr. Mark Reid, and Sr. Margie McGuire.
