SYSTER – Ruth P., 92, of Strongstown, formerly of New Jersey, passed away Nov. 6, 2018 at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana, Pa. Born Nov. 8, 1925 in Buffington Twp., daughter of the late Wilbur Otis and Pleasant Goldie (Stephens) Syster. Preceded in death by her brothers, William and Dwight Syster. Survived by her sister, Martha Syster. Ruth lived in Strongstown until she was 18 years old, moved to North Plainfield, New Jersey, resided there from 1948 and returned back to Strongstown in 2014. A caregiver for 69 years, for a man with cerebral palsy and a woman who had a kidney transplant. She also taught children at King’s Daughters Preschool Daycare Center for 20 years. Ruth earned her degree in Cosmetology, loved Broadway shows and was an avid reader. Always loyal to family and friends, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. As per her wishes, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Pineland Cemetery, Strongstown, Pastor Bob Westrick, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements in care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.
