Obituary of Albert E. Straple

STRAPLE - Albert E., Sr., 80, of Nanty Glo, passed away Aug. 29, 2011 at Windber Hospice. Born March 3, 1931 in Nanty Glo, son of the late William and Marie (Ford) Straple. Preceded in death by wife, Ruby (Estep); grandson, Christopher; brothers, Charles, James and Fredrick; and sisters in law, Sarah, Helen, Gretchen, and Phyllis. Survived by sons, Albert E., Jr. and wife Crystal Straple, Nanty Glo; and Benjamin E. (Janell) Straple, Nanty Glo. Grandchildren, Amanda, Cody, Katie, Albert E., III "A.J", Lacie and husband Kevin, and Scottie. Great Grandchildren, Logan, Connor, Marley and Christopher. Also survived by brothers, Tom, of Minnesota; Bill, Coatesville; Leonard, Ebensburg; Patrick and wife, Mary Lou, Nanty Glo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nanty Glo. Army veteran of the Korean War. Life member of D.A.V., Chapter 034, Altoona. VFW Post 3489 and American Legion Post 619, both of Nanty Glo. United Commercial Travelers of America, Lodge 303, Johnstown. Formerly employed by Delta Drilling Co., Tyler Texas. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church or Windber Hospice. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale area veterans organizations.
