STIVES – Thomas E. 62, Vintondale, died unexpectantly in Rochester, NY on January 9, 2016. Born Feb. 7, 1953 in Wellsville, NY, son of Homer Earl and Wilma (Jones) Stives. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald. Survived by loving wife Anne; children, Brent Stives; Angie married to Joe Harbin; and stepsons, Joseph Tackett married to Ellen (Seese); and Damien Tackett married to Jackie (Weister). Grandchildren, Kacey and Kiesten Stives, Jachobe, Lauryn, Eon and Kade Hunter, Carter and Grant Tackett and Tyler, Joshua, David, Zachary and Anna Grace Tackett; and sister, Caroline Stives. Tom served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic for almost ten years and later was a union heavy highway carpenter. Tom was a member of the Twin Rocks VFW, Vintondale VFW, Nanty Glo American Legion, LOOM, Polish Club and the Twin Rocks Sportsman’s Club. Tom proudly served on the Twin Rocks Honor Guard. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Rev. Rich Stock officiating. Interment, UB Cemetery, Belsano. Military rites by Twin Rocks, Vintondale and Nanty Glo veterans ritual team. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
