Obituary of George J. Tatarko

TATARKO - George J., Jr., 87, of Twin Rocks, passed away Nov. 17, 2014. Born July 7, 1927 in Heilwood, son of the late George and Mary (Yurovich) Tatarko. Preceded in death by son, George III; son in law, Bruce; granddaughter, Maggie; brothers, Joseph, John, Ed, Frank and Bill; and sisters, Agnes and Margie. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Irene Tatarko; and children, Mary Ann (fiancé, Rick) Losiewicz; Therese (Bill) Stawarz; Dr. Michael (Lori); Tim (Nadine); and Marina Tatarko; grandchildren, Michael, Jr.(Lauren); Christopher; David; Ben (Alyssa); Amanda; Annie; Luke; Marie; Tom; and Hunter; great grandchildren, Jocelyn; Nate; and Jack. Sisters, Mary Kilroy; Christine (Sam) Marchu; Jeannie (Joe) Berdomas; Irene Valenti; and brother, Paul. Also survived by numerous sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews. George worked as a butcher for many years. He also loved farming, fishing and hunting. He won many prizes for his vegetables at the county fair and was very proud when he bagged his 10- point trophy buck at the age of 76. WW II Navy veteran having fought in the Pacific Theatre. Former member of Sts. Timothy & Mark Catholic Church; and current member of St. Mary s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary s Church, the Rev. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Committal to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks. A special thanks to the Blacklick Township Ambulance Service, The Staff s at The Ebandjieff Clinic, Conemaugh s ER, 7th Fl. Ashman and Good Sam 4th Fl. Palliative Care Unit; as well as all of the other staff members from doctors to housekeeping to dietary that have touched us with their kindness, caring and compassion during our time of need. Donations may be made in George s memory to St. Mary s Building Fund.
