Obituary of Jean Grace Fair

FAIR - Jean Grace (Emerson), 97 of Petoskey, Michigan, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away Sunday December 8, 2013 at Bay Bluffs, in Harbor Springs, MI. Born June 2, 1916 in Vintondale, daughter of the late Stephen K. and Mary (Arndt) Emerson. She was raised in Nanty Glo, and attended Cambria Rowe Business College in Johnstown, after graduating high school. Jean was employed by Dunn and Bradstreet and Sears Roebuck and Company at Johnstown, PA. On December 24, 1942 Jean married the love of her life, Robert Clyde Fair in Johnstown. . Together they raised three children in Mt. Lebanon, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh. Jean loved crocheting, sewing, candy making, hand quilting and was a very good crafter. It was a great joy for her to give away her creations to family, friends and strangers. Jean was a Christian and is now at home with her Lord. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey, Michigan. Jean is survived by her children Diane Lehning of Petoskey, Mi., Robert (Qing) Fair of St. Charles, IL., and Thomas Fair of Huntley, IL., five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and one nephew. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Robert, son-in-law Richard Lehning, sister Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Leonard, and brother Thomas Bud Emerson. Jean s children wish to thank the dedicated staff of Bay Bluffs and Dr. Terry Jackson for their loving care of Jean. Friends will be received on Saturday (Dec. 14th) from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at noon, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, the Rev. Drew Walther, officiating. Interment will follow at Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundy s Corner.
