Obituary of Albert Anthony Markovich

MARKOVICH Albert Anthony, 84, of Vinco, passed away November 5, 2015. Born Aug. 29, 1931 in Chickaree, son of the late Michael and Mary (Bedar) Markovich. Preceded in death by wife, Elayne Irene Markovich, brothers, Frank Markovich and John Matejovich; and sisters, Irene Monyak, Mary Saghy, Mary Keats and Margaret Matejovich. Last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by sons, Allan, Vinco; Arliss and wife Leslie, Apollo; Arlen and wife Stephanie, Ebenburg; and daughters, Alrene and husband Bradley Gorsuch, Vinco; and Alissa and husband Bill Schmidt, Ohio. 15 grandchildren, Jared (Stephanie), Joshua, Jeremy (Tamara), and Jordan Gorsuch. Michael, Anna, and Marya-Markovich (George) Klayko. Marissa and Alayna Markovich. Coleena and Corinne Markovich. Landon, Logan, Laikyn and Laurelyn Schmidt. Also survived by sister in law, Helen Markovich, Nanty Glo. Member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner. Honorary Life Member Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Council 954, Johnstown. US Army veteran during the Korean Conflict. Member VFW, Nanty Glo American Legion and Nanty Glo American-Polish Citizens Club. Retired maintenance foreman from Bethlehem Mines Corp. Member UMWA. Albert enjoyed hunting, farming and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed going on trips to the various casinos with his wife Elayne. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. John Vianney Church, the Very Rev. Andrew C. Stanko, VF, celebrant. Committal, Holy Trinity Cemetery.
