SHERWOOD – Joseph, Jr., 82, of Blacklick Twp., passed away Dec. 27, 2017. Born June 27, 1935 in Bakerton, son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Agnes (Lane) Sherwood. Preceded in death by infant son, Donald; brothers, Thomas, William, Leroy, Virgil and Louis; and sisters, Josephine, Kathleen and Eileen. Survived by wife, of 65 years, the former Margaret Marcus; and children, Judy (Wayne) Dumm; Merrie Sherry; Nancy (Jerry Sherry) Sherwood; Beverly (Christopher) Burns; and Erin Sherwood. Grandchildren, Joshua Sherwood Dumm, Lane (Eric) Lasinsky, Alexis Sherry, Dane Sherry and Ava Sherwood. Great Grandson, Parker Jude. Also survived by sisters, Patricia Gindlesperger and Joanne (Jack) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Retired foreman from Bethlehem Steel, Gautier Division. Blacklick Twp. Supervisor for nearly 40 years. Drafted into the Army in August of 1953. Life member of Summit Lodge# 312, F. & A. M., Ebensburg and Altoona Shriners. Social member of Bakerton Rod & Gun Club. Member of Twin Rocks VFW. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing; and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 -5 p.m. on Saturday at the Askew- Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, followed by an Irish Wake at 6 p.m. at Twin Rocks VFW. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to Shriners Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
