Obituary of Mary Louise Sabo

SABO - Mary Louise, 95, of Nanty Glo, passed away June 2, 2015 at West Haven Manor, Apollo. Born Feb. 11, 1920 in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Sabo. Preceded in death by sisters, Irene Sabo, Dorothy (Lloyd) Stacy, brother, Charles (Ethel); and sister in law, Mary Ann (James) Batovich. Survived by brothers, Andrew (Rebecca), of Denver, Colorado; Edward (Ann); and James, both of Cleveland, Ohio; and sisters, Elizabeth (Paul) Grimm of Conway, S.C.; and Caroline (Richard) Zabrosky of Apollo. Member St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner. Mary received an associate' s degree in business from Cambria Rowe Business College in Johnstown; and worked as a bookkeeper for the former Penn Traffic Department Store for 41 years. After her retirement from Penn Traffic, she became a volunteer at Lee Hospital, where she donated 7,000 hours of service. During her tenure there, she worked in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and was honored by the Volunteer/Community Resources Office for her dedicated service in 1997. Mary was a member and officer of the Johnstown Business Secretary Club for many years. She was a loving sister to her family and a caring and loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. John Vianney Church, the Very Rev. Andrew C. Stanko,VF, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo.
