ABRAMS - Lyndol R., “Lindy”, 85, of Nanty Glo, passed away September 7, 2012 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born July 7, 1927 in Wehrum, son of the late Evor and Margaretta (Hullihen) Abrams. Preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; and brother in law, Daniel Gore. Survived by children, Linda (James) Edwards; Jacqueline Hilse-Abrams; and John Abrams; and grandchildren, James Jr. (Eugenia) ; Leigh Ann (Andres); Kelly (Andrew); Jonathan; Kathy; Christina (Randy); Michael Jr. (Dusty); and Jamey (April). Great Grandchildren, James III, Devin, Nicholas, Andrew, Megan, Lorena, Maria, Stephen, and Rylee. Also survived by sister, Barbara Gore; and niece, Terry (Martin ) Gore. Member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Nanty Glo. WW II Navy veteran and member of the Nanty Glo VFW. Owner and operator of Abrams Signs, for over 40 years. Lindy enjoyed gardening, and sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10a.m., Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal to follow at St. Marys’s Cemetery. Military Honors by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale area veterans team. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lindy’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
