SMEED - Elizabeth L. Betty , 87, of Singer Hill, went to be with the Lord Oct. 18, 2015. Born Dec. 16, 1927 in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Dave and Lillian Gordon. Preceded in death by husband, John; daughter, Ruth Dixon; brothers, David, Thomas, and William; and sister, Clara McCarthy. Survived by sons, John (Sue); and Michael (Linda); and daughter, Linda. Grandchildren, John, William, David, Mickey and Rebecca. Great Grandchildren, Oliver, Kya, Gracie and Bella. Also survived by sister, Mary Jane Kaiser; several nieces and nephews; and son in law, Dave Dixon. Member of Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and SMM Nights. Member of The Sweet 60 s. She and her late husband, John spent winters in Florida where she belonged to The Joy Group, where she was secretary. Betty enjoyed crocheting. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church, Pastor Drew Walther and Rev. Marvin E. Lowery, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty s memory may be made to Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church Youth Group.
